Roman C
The Roman Tableware collection designed by Raffaella Mangiarotti for Atipico draws its inspiration from Roman classicism, reinterpreted with traditional Italian materials and contemporary lightness. “Looking at catalogues on ancient Roman art, I was struck by a glass vessel with two loop handles that looked like it had been made recently in Murano, and instead was an ancient artifact. It’s amazing how beauty can withstand the passage of time when it is the result of simplicity and elegance of proportion. This gave me the idea of taking the ring as a main design element and making it structural, functional and decorative. ” The ring consists of a single line that winds around itself and envelops borosilicate glass structures, resulting in ethereal objects, almost devoid of materiality. The collection includes a vase, a pitcher and glass, and a candlestick in various heights. The collection stems from the Homi exhibition “La Magnifica Forma” (The Magnificent Shape), curated by Anna del Gatto, aimed at the production of classically-inspired design objects to be marketed in the shops of leading Italian museums.
