Miniatures Zig Zag Stoel, Rietveld 1934

Наряду с Rood Blauwe Stoel (1918), Zig Zag Stoel, вероятно, является самым известным из проектов Геррита Т. Ритвельда. Ритвельд принимает идею Марта Стама о консольном стуле (1926) и делает официальные ссылки на Sitzgeiststuhl братьев Хайнца и Бодо Раша (1927). Несмотря на то, что Zig Zag Stoel состоит из четырех отдельных досок, он представляет собой вариацию старой темы: стул сделан из одного куска дерева. Только четыре года спустя Ритвельду удалось построить первый консольный стул, сделанный из одного листа фанеры. Тем не менее, Zig Zag Stoel считается замечательным синтезом формы, функции и конструкции. Это было произведено с и без подлокотников, с перфорированной или твердой задней поверхностью, и в версии детского стульчика.
